Progreso Lakes, 11/4/20

After the election ugliness from last night, I was happy to spend some time in our Progreso Lakes yard looking at birds.  I saw a few warblers yesterday and was hoping to add some more to the November yard list.  I picked out the usual Myrtle and Orange-crowns.  And then scored this little cutie, our second ever Black-throated Gray Warbler.  There's been a bunch of them in the Valley this year.

Then I got a few poor shots of a Black-throated Green Warbler.  Looking more closely at the photos I discovered there were actually two of them.

This late Tennessee Warbler was a nice surprise.  The fall females confuse a lot of inexperienced birders.

There were a couple of Nashvilles and a Common Yellowthroat.  But I knew there were at least two more were lurking somewhere.  Finally my Wilson's and Yellow-throated Warblers flew in for a bath.

That made nine species of warblers on the day.  Pretty good for November!  One last scope of the resaca turned up one more good bird.  This distant female Wood Duck was only our second and year bird #196 for the yard.
